Hyundai Tucson: Cooling System / Cooling Fan

- Removal and Installation

   

• Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.(Refer to General Information - "Lift and Support Points")

1.Remove the radiator assembly.(Refer to Cooling System - "Radiator")

2.Remove the cooling fan (A).

3.Install in the reverse order of removal.

4.Fill engine coolant.(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")

   

• When changing the coolant and draining air, be sure to follow the filling instructions of the Integrated Thermal Management Module (ITM).

5.Check the coolant leakage by starting up the engine.

6.Recheck the coolant level.

- Disassembly

1.Remove the cooling fan (A) from the cooling fan shroud.

Tightening torque : 3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

2.Loosen the screws and then remove the fan motor (A) from the cooling fan shroud.

Tightening torque : 7.1 - 7.6 N.m (0.72 - 0.77 kgf.m, 5.2 - 5.6 lb-ft)

3.Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

- Inspection

1.Turn ignition switch "OFF" and connect the diagnostic tool to the Data Link Connector.

2.With the gear shift in P (Park) position and ignistion switch "ON" (LED of the Power button illuminates in Red), select the "force drive" function.

3.Force drive the cooling fan motor.

   

• There are two functions for the fan motor force drive: Low speed and high speed.

[Fan motor low speed]

1)Start the "Fan motor low speed" of the force drive function.

2)Force drive by pressing the start button.

3)Visually check the operation of the cooling fan.

4)Stop the force drive by pressing the stop button.

[Fan motor high speed]

1)Start the "Fan motor high speed" of the force drive function.

2)Force drive by pressing the start button.

3)Visually check the operation of the cooling fan.

4)Stop the force drive by pressing the stop button.
