- Operation Function Of Safety Power Window When driver door power window auto-up switch is operated, safety function is activated.

1.Safety function conditionWhen detect the force of 100N (using the 10N/mm spring) during the window rising, window is reversed.

2.Length of window reversing (except holding the auto-up switch)

– When detect the jamming during the 4mm - 250mm from top of the door.: Window is reversed until 300mm from top of the door.

– When detect the jamming over the 250mm from top of the door.: Window is reversed until 20mm from jamming position.

3.Length of window reversing (holding the auto-up switch)

– When detect the jamming during holding the auto-up switch.: Window is reverse until 25mm from jamming position.

– Auto-up function is not available during the 5 seconds from above condition.: When holding the auto-up switch, window is operated as a manual-up function. (Safety function is not activated.)

4.Safety function is not available areaSafety function is not available during the 4mm from top of the door.

Initialization & cancellation of safety power window

1.Initialization when battery is connected.If the battery is connected while the battery is removed during the motor operation, the power switch needs to be initialized. The operation before initialization and the initialization method are as follows.

(1)Operation before initialization

– Manual-up/safety operation is possible

– Auto-up/down function is impossible(However, if the auto-up/safety switch is kept, manual-up/down operation is performed)

(2)How to initializeIf the system is reset as power is applied or after reset by the error detection, the system requires the following initialization process to recognize the uppermost position of the window.With the window opened, use the auto/manual up switch to fully close the window and keep the closed state for 0.2 second or more.(If you operate the up switch while the window is fully closed, it is not initialized.)

(3)If you insert an object into the window and initialize it, the following phenomena may occur.

– Entering fail safe mode: Fail safe mode operation is carried out.

– Safety function is unavailable: Window does not reverse even if object is trapped (reinitialization is possible by the initialization method mentioned above)

(4)Memorization of window positionHole sensor is used to know the position of the window and the operating direction of motor. ECU detects the uppermost position of the window and sets it to “0” and increases the position value of the window based on the information received from the hole sensor when window goes downward. Conversely, when the window goes upward, the position value is decreased.

• Only the initialized system can memorize the window position.

(5)Memorization and reading of initialized informationECU records the initialized information in the designated memory location under the following conditions. (However, it is possible when the ROM used as a memory location is normal)

– Recording condition: 1 second has elapsed after motor was stopped

– Reading condition: Engine = ON or Power = ON Reset

(6)How to cancel initializationWhen the following conditions are met, ECU cancels initialization. After cancelling the initialization, auto-up and safety function do not work. In order to restore the auto-up and safety function, ECU must pass the process of 3.4.Required conditions for cancelling initialization

a.Repeat the reverse motion 3 times continuously

b.Disconnect power while motor is operating

c.IGN OFF when the driver's door is opened and the window glass is positioned at the lowest level (hard stop) → IGN ON within 2 seconds → With IGN ON, input the manual down switch signal 3 times within 5 seconds → Initialization is cancelled (If the power cannot be turned ON within 2 seconds or required operation is not performed within 5 seconds, repeat the above process from the beginning.)

2.Motor overheat preventionSoftware overheating prevention function is used to protect the motor from overheating. (However, if the EEPROM data of the ECU is correct) After reset as the system power is applied, the software thermal counter starts from the initial value. While the motor is running, the counter value increases according to the temperature characteristic curve, and decreases when the motor is stopped. There are 2 temperature limit values for overheating prevention. If the motor reaches the first threshold point during the operating process, the motor operation is prohibited after current motor operation is completed and waits for until the temperature counter value (temperature at which the motor is possible to operate) decreases. If the second threshold point is exceeded during motor operation, motor immediately stops operation and waits until the temperature counter value decreases to the specified value. (Reverse motor operation by the safety function is not affected by this function.)Motor can be continuously operated at least 15 strokes, and can be operated again after 35±5 seconds after the motor stops by the overheating prevention function.
